Okay. I don't like Trudy. I don't think this is really a revelation to those of you who pay attention when I talk about the Tribe, and it wouldn't be a suprise to the rest of you given that Trudy ticks pretty much every box in the "Qualities I Despise in Female Characters" list. She's an idiot who doesn't know how to use birth control, she's clingy, she's whiny, she is entirely defined by the men in her life, and when she's upset (which is pretty much all of season 1) her voice reaches that particular level known as "screechy fuckwit" that cuts right through me.
But that scene in season 2 where she goes with the Chosen to stop them from killing Lex makes her kind of awesome to me. Not just because of how much the Tribe would suck without Lex drinking and whoring and yelling at everyone and eating their pets, but because that was such an incredible sacrifice for her to make. I wouldn't do that for a friend. I'm not even sure I would do it for a family member. And I sure as hell wouldn't do it for some guy who kept trying to get me thrown out of my home. I mean, she's safe, she's got Brady. She's got no reason to help Lex, and more than enough reason to let the Guardian kill him, and she makes the choice to trade her freedom and that of her baby for someone who's done nothing but give her grief since they first met. That takes a very real sort of strength.
So props to you, Trudy. Sometimes you do not entirely suck crazy Locoballs.
On a less serious Tribe-related note, I am completely in love with that scene at the end of season one where they reach the tracking station and Lex can't open the door, and then they spot the underground entrance and he's like, "Ladies first," and Bray gives him this absolutely filthy look before leading the way down. You don't get a reaction shot of Jack, but you know he was off laughing somewhere in the background.

I kinda liked her in season three when she's going through the whole Supreme Mother trip and then finally re-intergrating back in with the Tribe.
And well, you know I love any scenes involving Bray/Lex, even if it is them throwing each other snide remarks and dirty looks. Dirtier the better I say!

Date: 2008-09-27 11:44 pm (UTC)I like her in quite a lot of her interactions with Ebony - like after the whole thing with Tribe Circus, when Ebony is threatening to throw Bray off the balcony if she doesn't get the antidote, and the rest of the Mallrats are all silent and cowed and Ebony starts on about stealing Brady and Trudy calls her a cheap tramp and Ebony is just like, *stunned silence* 'cause she can't believe anyone would actually say that to her face. There's a few other scenes where Ebony mouths off and Trudy just tells her to shut up in a really amusingly distainful way that make me laugh.
Bray/Lex = FTW. Every time. Lack of Bray/Lex is the reason I don't like seasons 4 and 5 as much as the first 3. Even Patch and Slade - who are basically Jack and Bray v.2.0 respectively - couldn't quite win me over.
